Psalm 19: When Did We Forget?
Amos Wilson (February 22, 2015)

When did we forget,
Who it was that wrote the Law?
Does our opinion count,
If we refute the word of God?

The Bible is complete.
And perfect in integrity,
It does convert the soul,
Restoring with vivacity.

When God will testify,
You can trust it with your life,
If you would listen well,
It would make the simple wise.

Jehovah visits us,
His precepts hold us to account.
Their straightness gives us joy,
By them our hearts with praise will shout.

Read therefore His commands,
For they are clear, and clean, and pure.
It cleans our foggy eyes,
To walk with God in footsteps sure.

The fear of God is clean,
Enduring then forever more.
His justice too is right,
With truth together to the core.

Amidst the muse of man,
And chaos of our ordered state,
The fantasy of man,
Is but as sewage – putrid, dank.

In all our sagely thoughts,
Did we forget the Mind that made?
Devising brilliant laws,
That we reject, with pride we break.

Read His Word, O man!
Resist the scoffers prideful taunt!
Recommend His Laws!
Reflect it, serve it as you ought!

Psalm 19: The Message of the Sky
Amos Wilson (February 15, 2015)

The heavens – thinnest parchment made –
On them is writ one simple thing:
The handiwork of God of gods,
The glory of Creator King.
The king of mountains,
Highland fountains,
Who treads the wonders of the earth,
Shaping wind,
What man intends,
And forging dawn in astral flame,
The Lord of Host is called His name.” (Amos 5:13)

The language of the day and night,
And morphemes of the universe,
There is no tongue or ethnic group,
Who can not hear these stars converse.

Their speech is like a plumb-line's guide,
That stretches over all the land,
If one would dare to bend off-plumb,
He'll be destroyed by God's own hand.

The sun, nomadic, from his tent,
Now burst to cast ethereal dawn,
As would a groom from nuptial suite,
An athlete poised, prepared to run.

He rises from the edge of sky,
His tireless race to swiftly speed.
His circuit compasses the earth,
And nothing can escape his heat.
The God who made,
All this displayed,
And burns his law upon our souls,
Must thus deserve –
with no reserve –
All men who live upon earth's face,
To praise Him for eternal grace.

Psalm 18: For What Purpose Was I Saved?
Amos Wilson (February, 8 2015)

My God you have delivered me,
Yet for what purpose was I saved?
I surely don't deserve your grace,
I should slave,
Into the grave –
For what purpose, tell?
Listen, listen well.

Against the striving of my kin,
You made me head to reign supreme.
Even the tribes from lands unknown,
Will tribute bring,
To me as king –
Then for what purpose saved?
To rule o'er what You gave.

I will exalt the Lord who saved.
Life is Christ – so I will praise,
Since God destroyed and fought my foes,
To God of days,
I write my lays –
So for what purpose then?
To sing His praise to men.

For years He has delivered me,
And showed me mercy just,
To me and mine forever more,
O Lord of us,
In You I trust –
Then for what purpose, say?
To know where I must stay.

Psalm 29: A Love Song
Amos Wilson (May 18, 2014)

All you heavens, hear,
And give my Lord his glory.
My Lord, my Love is strong,
My Christ, my King is holy.
Worship the Lord with splendor,
With the splendor of holiness, sing!
Give Him the glory due,
To our Jehovah King.

His voice goes o'er the sea,
And sounds like rolling thunder.
Like hurricanes it comes,
And brings the heavenly wonders.
And at his words the ceders break –
Sequoya, redwood banyans – all.
The mountains too must flea like calves,
The cliffs and crags and hillocks fall.

The power of my Lord, my Love!
Could any make it higher?
His voice descends like flames of stars,
His tongue can kindle fire.
His domain includes the wilds,
The wilderness where life is rare.
His words give life and birth and child,
And also strips the forest bare.

Glory!” I will cry!
My savior cannot die!”
His throne sits on the flood forever,
He gives us strength in our endeavor.
Your throne, my Love, will never cease,
And you will give your people peace.
Psalm 18: My Righteousness
Amos Wilson (January 25, 2015)

God delights in me,
And towards me He will lean,
He loves me, though I'm soaked in sin.
Forgiving sin He sees.

For I am in the right,
Jehovah is my Light,
This purity He gave to me,
Is ever my delight.

You smelted out my dross,
My dirty hand's You washed,
I call it then my righteousness,
Accepted by Your cross.

I kept your laws and ways,
Ignoring not a day,
The rules that You set our for me
That in Your courts I stay.

And when I sin, repent,
For towards your laws I'm bent,
Your sanctity transforming me,
O'er You I'll cast my tent.

I did not cause His grace,
Nor make Him love my face,
My goodness emanates from God,
I vibrate at His rate.

For He delights in this:
That I would do His wish,
So when he hums His righteousness,
I will repeat the pitch.

To kind ones You is kind,
To blameless as Your mind,
Be sure to pure You're also pure,
But froward you will bind.

You save the humble men,
Who turn away from sin,
Swift to deliver when we call,
But haughty eyes condemn.
Psalm 18: Deliverer
Amos Wilson (January 18, 2015)

Hark, hear, and listen, and attend,
I tell you of my Lord –
My Lord, my Love, Deliverer,
My rock, my saving horn.

He is my shield, he covers me,
My fort and palisade,
Yea, when I call – Oh! praise His name!
He swiftly comes to aid.

The cords of death entangled me,
The waves of pain wax high,
The grave's cold noose comes round my neck,
And snares assault my eyes.

In panic I cried to the Lord,
I – drowning in this sea,
I called for help – to heaven prayed,
Yes, evil, wicked me.

In heaven in the temple sat,
The God of near and far,
And to His temple came my cry,
His holy ear did hear.

And so He roused Him at my cry,
In anger came he forth,
The earth did tremble, mountains quaked,
Before Him storm-clouds birth.

The brightness of His presence cloaked,
In clouds and stones of hail,
And lightning flashed in sheers of flame,
Before Him all did quail.

Jehovah spoke from heaven then,
Resounding coast to coast.
His arrows scattered all my foes,
His bolts did rout their host.

The dreadful waves he hurled back,
The earth beneath laid bare.
Before his neezings all retreats,
This power – for my care.

With great compassion God knelt down,
He pulled me from the sea,
He saved me – ugly, rebel's spawn!
From foes too strong for me.
Psalm 17: Hear Me
Amos Wilson (September 7, 2014)

Heed the right, attend my cry,
Hear my cause – my lips don't lie.

Let vindication come from you,
Look at the ones whose ways are true.

You test my heart and fill my night,
I'm innocent – my mouth speaks right.

Rejecting man, I grasp your word,
The paths of Satan I've not heard.

Uphold my path with your great lips,
And my foot surely will not slip.

I called and you will answer me.
Incline your ear and hear my plea.

For those who come as refugees,
By your right-hand showcase your mercies.

Protect me as you keep your eye,
And underneath your wings I hide.
Psalm 17: Deliver Me
Amos Wilson (September 14, 2014)

Around me circle wicked men,
I'm vanquished, and no one defends.
Their callousness is full complete,
Their mouths of haughtiness replete.
They strangle, compass all our steps,
Their eyes o'er all the the earth have swept.
As like the little lions leering,
Lusting, longing, terror tearing.
Arise before his ace, O Lord,
Beat him, bend him with Your sword.
Deliver me from worldly men,
Their heritage will shortly end.
Though the eat and children birth,
Their goods and joys are but of earth.
Your righteousness I have embraced,
And when I wake, I'll see your face.
Psalm 16: Inheritance
Amos Wilson (August 24, 2014)

Protect me, Lord my God,
For refuge I proceed,
You are my Master,” says my soul,
Your goodness none exceeds.

Concerning, then, your saints,
The holy-ones of earth,
They are magnificent and pure,
For them, delight is birthed.

Those who chased after Baal,
Their sorrows will be great.
Never will I pour out blood,
Their very names I hate.

I will inherit You,
And You maintain my land,
The lines have fallen pleasantly,
An heir with good at hand.
Psalm 16: Five Gifts
Amos Wilson (August 31, 2014)

I will sincerely bless the Lord,
Who has counsel given,
And in the night has wisdom lent,
And with my conscience striven.

I will always face the Lord,
And keep Him in my eye,
From His hand I will not fall,
With peace of heart and mind.

Because of this my heart will laugh,
My gory filled with joy,
And thus my flesh will settle down,
And confidence employ.

For you will not abandon me,
Nor send my soul to Sheol.
I won't be destined to decay,
For you have wished me weel.

You will shoe me paths of life,
Pleasure in you presence,
At your right-hand are endless joys,
Where there's no hindrance.
Psalm 15
Amos Wilson (August 3, 2014)

Who in your tent can be a guest?
Who in your holy place can rest?
Either he must earn his place,
Or be adopted by his grace.
What must we do to earn our board?
We must be perfect as our Lord:
One without blame, one who does right,
And speaks the truth both day and night.
Who does not slander with his tongue,
No evil to his friends has done.
The reprobate he will despise,
And honors him who to God flies.
When he swears, he'll keep his word,
He will not change, despite the hurt.
He gives no interest when he lends,
And takes no bribes, nor justice bends.
Who does all this earns resurrection,
He won't be move, he's reached perfection.
Who can lie with You, my God?
Our works are but a frail facade.
We surely can not earn your favor,
Lord, adopt us, be our savior.
Psalm 14: Yahweh Is
Amos Wilson (July 27, 2014)

There is no god,” the fool doth say,
So yet corruption hold its sway!”
They have made their deeds to stink
None of them on goodness think.

God looks down on all mankind,
One who seeks the Lord to find,
Is there one who understood?
Is there one who yet does good?

Every one has turned away,
Altogether tainted gray.
There's none who can do good at all,
Not even one, for all do fall.

Do not the wicked workers know
(Those who eat my men like dough)
And do not call upon the Lord?
Will not call upon the Lord?

They are terrified and fear,
In my home the Lord is here!
They shame the faith of humble man,
He hides in God – his barbican.

From Zion let salvation be,
When God turns back captivity.
Let Jacob praise, rejoice in this,
Make Israel happy: Yahweh Is.
Psalm 12: Words of Silver, Words of Wind
Amos Wilson (July 13, 2014)

My Lord, pray bring us help,
The godly men are gone,
The faithful men are not
In Adam's race here strong.

With vanity they speak,
Each one to his friend,
They flattery with the lip,
With double hearts pretend.

The Lord will bring an end,
To lips of flattery,
And He will stop the mouth,
Which speaks thus boastfully.

They have said, “Our tongue,
Our language is our sword.
Our words will be with us.
Who will be our lord?”

For the helpless poor,”
Says God, “for the deprived,
I will rise, and grant
Their needs for which they strive.”

The words of God our pure,
(not like unrighteous leaven,)
Like silver well refined,
By multiple of seven.

And He takes care of us,
Protects us from the fiend,
And he will fortify
Who on Him humbly lean.

The wicked number great,
And prowl on every side.
Their sins they do exalt,
Their guilt they cannot hide.

The Lord for us contends.
The wicked suck in wind!
Psalm 11: My Fortress is the Lord
Amos Wilson (July 6, 2014)

The forests, gulfs, and mountain crags,
And desolate sea-shore,
Can hide the rabbit, bear, and stag,
My fortress is the Lord.
Pray, how, my soul, can you thus say,
To the mountains go,
Flea like a bird from dawning day,
The wicked bend the bow.”

They string their weapon – keen and stark,
And notch their gory dart,
To the string so in the dark,
To pierce you through the heart.
If the foundations are to fall,
what can the righteous do?
Your fortress will not help at all,
The walls will crack askew.”

The Lord is in His holy hill,
His throne is set on high.
He sees all that has passed and will,
All is before his eye.
The Lord will test and try his people,
As in a crucible,
But His soul hates the man of evil,
Those with violence full.

God on the wicked rains down snares,
Fire, scorching wind,
So with dread he stops and stares,
This from his cup within.
The Lord is righteous. He is good,
Full of love and grace.
And those saints washed in His blood,
They shall see his face.
Psalm 10: The Wicked Man
Amos Wilson (June 22, 2014)

Am I this evil man?
Lord, show me if I am!
He persecutes the poor in pride,
He boasts, hes weakness tries to hide,
He gives the greedy benediction,
And of the Lord a recantation.
He will not seek the Lord most kind,
He bars him out from his hard mind.
His way tortuous goes,
He sneers at all his foes.
God's judgments he can't comprehend,
They stand passed where his vision ends.
I won't be moved or evil see,
I will not see adversity.
Forever I will prosper well,
And my posterity will swell.”
His mouth oppresses, curses, cheats,
His troubled tongue with sin complete.
He sits in ambush where he will,
He springs, the innocent to kill.
His eyes are fixed on weaker men,
He waits like lions in their den.
He lies in wait to catch the poor.
He spreads a net across the floor.
His victim crumbles, sinks, and falls.
In his heart this villain calls:
God has forgotten, and wont see,
He surely hides his face from me.”
Arise O Lord, and break his arm!
Seek out the wicked, stop his harm!
If he resides in me,
Then give me grace to see.
Psalm 10: Break His Arm
Amos Wilson (June 29, 2014)

Let not the evil man prevail,
Avenge your dying saints!
They kill us, mock us, hunt us down,
We long for rest, we faint.

Why stand you in the distance, Lord?
Why hide in times of pain?
These wicked seem to own this earth,
They only seek their gain.

Listen to his heart, O Lord,
He says you can not see.
God has forgotten and is blind,
He turns his eyes from me.”

Arise, O Lord, lift up your hand,
Save your humble sheep.
Why does this man despise the Lord?
Does he not know you seek?

You saw this crooked world, O Lord,
The trouble and the grief.
Seek out the wicked, break his arm,
Make his sinning brief.

The Helpless gives himself to you,
The orphan takes your hand.
The Lord is king, the nations fail,
And perish from His land.

Lord you have heard the humbles' wish,
You will prepare his heart.
You will cause your ear to hear,
And listen for your part.

For the orphan and oppressed,
Deal justice out, O Lord.
So that the wicked man is stilled,
That he oppress no more.
Psalm 9: Victory
Amos Wilson (June 8, 2014)

I will give thanks with all my heart.
I will tell all you've done.
I will exult and praise your name.
Upon the death of the son.
Your wondrous deeds deployed,
Have made me dance with joy.

The enemy has turned and fled,
They stumble, fall, and die,
For none can stand before your wrath,
Before your face, Most High.

For you performed my trial just,
While you sat on the throne.
You upheld my case for me,
I praise your name alone.

Your rebuked the nations strong,
And killed the wicked clever.
They perished when you did blot out
Their name forever and ever.

The enemy has come to an end,
Ruined eternally.
Their cities you have rooted out,
So there's no memory.

But none forget what God will do,
He will reign forever.
He will judge and justice give,
No matter what the weather.

The Lord's a fortress for the weak,
A bulwark for the shaken,
The ones who know your name will seek,
And they are not forsaken.

In Zion He has set His throne,
Tell all men what he has done!
Your wondrous deeds deployed,
have made me dance with joy.
My blood-avenger comes from high,
He listens to the humbles' cry.
Psalm 9: The Lord Was Here
Amos Wilson (June 15, 2014)

In the bush of Africa,
Or trenches deep and drear,
One warrior yet has gone before,
Behold, the Lord was here!

Jehovah see my misery?
I know I'm not alone.
Rise me from the gates of death,
Come and take me home.
So that I can sing your praise,
Recount it in your gate,
Zion's children I will tell,
My Savior-God is great!

The nations sunk into their pit,
Caught in their own web,
The Lord is known and justly does,
Evil to Evil's head.
The wicked set a snare, but God
Will make it spring on him.
The wicked men to Sheol go,
Forgetting God in sin.

But needy ones are not forgotten,
God will hear their prayer.
The poor shall not forever fear,
God gives hope to bear.
Arise, O Lord, judge mortal men,
Do not let him win,
Let nations know that they have sinned,
Rebellion on him pin.

Show them that the Lord is here,
Fill man's heart with righteous fear,
Lay them low and humble them,
Show them they are naught but men.
Psalm 8: God's Way of Thinking
Amos Wilson (June 1, 2014)

The Singer: Creator-king, majestic name,
Daily I will praise the same.
For You have set your glory high,
And made man's wisdom naught but lies.

Man: The baby is a waist and drain,
It can't survive excessive strain.
It empties pleasures from your wallet,
Abort it. Kill it. Don't install it.

God: Out of an infant's mouth proceeds,
A mighty weapon, strong and keen.
I have established strength for those,
And they will still the angry foes.
The baby-blessing is a gift,
They charm the heart – there's none too stiff.
For with their lips they utter praise,
My kingdom from their kind I raise.

Evilman: The man's the highest form of life,
And he has caused unending strife.
The world was caused by happenstance,
A jumbled mess of stupid chance.

Righteousman: I see the stars which you have planned,
The moon you hold within your hand.
But you remember lowly man.
You care, and make me all I am.
You crowned this dust with heavenly grace,
Just bellow your own high place.
You gave the earth to him as king,
Dominion over everything:
The sheep, the wolf, the bears, and kye,
The beasts of sea, and birds of sky.

The Singer: These thoughts, O Lord, your mind gave birth.
Your name is mighty o'er the earth.
